Basketball Game Preview: River View Raiders vs. Montcalm Generals

River View is 10-0 against Montcalm since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The River View Raiders will host the Montcalm Generals at 7:00 p.m. River View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, River View turned things around against Hurley on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-56 victory over the Rebels. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 80th in West Virginia, while the Rebels are ranked 307th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

River View found their leader in sophomore Chasity Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 20 boards. Those 20 rebounds gave Kennedy a new career-high. Kaci Hatfield was another key player, putting up 18 points.

River View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Montcalm was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 37-18 bruising from Braxton County.

The win got River View back to even at 5-5. As for Montcalm, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for River View against Montcalm when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 70-33 victory. In that game, River View amassed a halftime lead of 32-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
