Basketball Game Preview: Westlake Wolverines vs. Gwynn Park Yellowjackets

Having just played yesterday, the Westlake Wolverines will jump right back in to play the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westlake will be strutting in after a victory while Gwynn Park will be coming in after a defeat.

Westlake hadn't beaten St. Charles on the road since December 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Wolverines walked away with a 53-43 win over St. Charles.

Westlake's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Darius Kemper, who posted 14 points along with five assists and five boards, and Israel Warner, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. That's the most assists Kemper has posted since back in December of 2024. Dominick Wallace-Lewis was another key player, putting up six points.

Gwynn Park had taken Potomac down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Yellowjackets took a 69-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (63), the Yellowjackets still had to take the loss.

Westlake now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gwynn Park, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Westlake strolled past Gwynn Park when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a score of 57-42. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
