Softball Game Preview: Carter Lions vs. Summit SkyHawks

Carter hasn't had much luck against Summit recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lions will face off against the SkyHawks at 3:45 p.m.

Carter is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Jurupa Hills. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Lions' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Summit waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Sultans. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the SkyHawks this season.

Jysel Guerrero looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Alani Lopez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Isabella Cardona was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

The win got Summit back to even at 7-7. As for Carter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Carter came up short against Summit in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
