Baseball Game Preview: Thompson Warriors vs. Grissom Tigers

Thompson has gone a perfect 4-0 against Grissom recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Thompson Warriors will take on the Grissom Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, it was close, but Thompson sidestepped Mobile Christian for a 6-5 victory.

Wyatt Williams was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cooper Mills, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Grissom put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on St. John Paul II with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dalton Dardin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dardin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Cassingham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Cody Brothers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Thompson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs over those games. Grissom pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went Thompson's way against Grissom in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as Thompson made off with a 12-4 win. Will Thompson repeat their success, or does Grissom have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
