Basketball Game Preview: Elder Panthers vs. Mason Comets

The Elder Panthers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Mason Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elder has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 207 points over their last three matches.

Elder is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Roger Bacon: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Elder blew Roger Bacon out of the water with a 65-36 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 27 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Mason was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Oak Hills an easy 49-28 win. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Highlanders are ranked 254th).

Mason's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Elder, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Elder skirted past Mason 60-58 in their previous meeting back in February of 2018. Does Elder have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mason turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
