Volleyball Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans vs. Wesleyan Wolves
Greater Atlanta Christian was the 2-0 winner over Wesleyan when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 25-18 in the first set.
Greater Atlanta Christian actually scored more points across those five sets (101-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-15, 27-25, 15-25, 15-11.
Ella Paden paced Greater Atlanta Christian's offense, picking up 15 kills. Paden got some help from Rita Taylor and her 32 assists. Amyra Burchik controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Wesleyan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassie Lohr out in front who had ten digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Lohr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Miller, who had 17 digs.
Greater Atlanta Christian's defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 18-12. As for Wesleyan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Greater Atlanta Christian will take on Seckinger in a tournament on Saturday. As for Wesleyan, they will be playing at home against King's Ridge Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
