Softball Recap: Emerald Ridge Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Emerald Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Puyallup Vikings a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Not much got past Alanna Wirtala, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Puyallup off the board. Wirtala has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Payton Robillard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Emerald Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Puyallup, they moved to 11-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
