Volleyball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Mount Tabor Spartans
R.J. Reynolds took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Mount Tabor, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. R.J. Reynolds narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mount Tabor 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Demons: when they faced off against the Spartans on March 4th, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.
R.J. Reynolds wouldn't go down easily and took Mount Tabor into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 16-14.
Mount Tabor's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kerry Donahue, who had 25 kills, ten digs, two aces, and one block. Donahue is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least five every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lokits, who had 11 digs and four aces.
R.J. Reynolds' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Mount Tabor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Coming up, R.J. Reynolds will take on West Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Forsyth will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something R.J. Reynolds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mount Tabor, they will square off against Page at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
