Softball Recap: Hellgate Knights vs. Great Falls Bison
Hellgate proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 15) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Great Falls Bison 7-5. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 17-2 victory the Bison walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

Avery King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Donalynn Headswift was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Piper Wells also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hellgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Great Falls only managed five hits.
Hellgate's record is now 2-7. As for Great Falls, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hellgate will host Capital at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Great Falls, they will welcome Gallatin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
