Recap: Menomonie Mustangs vs. Sparta Spartans
The Menomonie Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sparta and snuck past 80-77. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Sparta still got an impressive performance from Gavin Rhead, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. John Rice was another key contributor, scoring 25 points.
Menomonie's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Sparta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Menomonie the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hudson at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Hudson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Menomonie in Wisconsin (Hudson is ranked 132nd, while Menomonie is ranked 287th). As for Sparta, they will head out on the road to face off against La Crosse Central at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. La Crosse Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 240 points over their last four matchups.
