Baseball Game Preview: Timnath Cubs vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

For the second straight game, Timnath will face off against Thompson Valley. The Cubs will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Timnath is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Timnath is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Thompson Valley just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

For Thompson Valley's part, they got a massive performance out of Sam Engelland, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Engelland is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-10 when he doesn't). Finn McAlpin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Thompson Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matchups.

Thompson Valley's record now sits at 4-10. As for Timnath, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
