Basketball Game Preview: Saint Andrew's Scots vs. Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie

Two dominant guards in Xander Gerard and Dennis Pierre Jr are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Saint Andrew's Scots will be home for the holidays to greet the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Saint Andrew's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Saint Andrew's is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing St. John Paul II Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Scots blew the Eagles out of the water with an 82-42 final score. The Scots haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Brendan Gerard produced another solid effort almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine assists. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Ryan Connors, who posted eight points and five boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Saint Andrew's was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Hialeah Educational Academy lost to Norland on the road by a 71-56 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Biggie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Vikings are ranked 144th).

Saint Andrew's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
