Football Recap: St. Joseph Falls to Tulare Union in First Game of Season + How To Watch

St. Joseph unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Tulare Union Tribe by a score of 27-24 on Friday. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tribe from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Heaslet, who threw for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. St. Joseph also got a significant boost from Grayson Gaines, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.

Jordan Crisp went supernova For Tulare Union., rushing for 25 yards and four scores, while also throwing for 182 yards on 15 of 24 attempts. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Crisp a new career-high. Rashawn Hayes was another key player, rushing for 113 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tulare Union, they will challenge El Diamante at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
