Basketball Game Preview: Northern Highlands Highlanders vs. Mahwah Thunderbirds

The Northern Highlands Highlanders and the Mahwah Thunderbirds will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Mahwah took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Northern Highlands, who comes in off a win.

Mahwah is hoping to do what Ridgefield Park couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Northern Highlands' winning streak, which now stands at three games. Northern Highlands snuck past Ridgefield Park with a 46-41 victory. The Highlanders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Mahwah lost 49-29 to Glen Ridge on Saturday. The contest marked the Thunderbirds' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Northern Highlands' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Mahwah, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3.

Northern Highlands didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mahwah in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 43-39 victory.
