Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodland). They never let the Hudson's Bay Eagles get on the board and left with a 28-0 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Beavers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Gracelynn Huffman was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Woodland got a massive performance out of Brynn Skelton, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Skelton has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Walker, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Woodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Woodland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Hudson's Bay, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
