Softball Recap: Pembroke Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pembroke barely beat Alexander the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons blew past the Trojans 12-1 on Monday. Considering the Dragons have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayden Hootman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Hootman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Schneider, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Juliana Cleveland was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win (which was Pembroke's third in a row) raised their record to 10-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Alexander, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

Coming up, Pembroke will challenge Holley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Alexander, they will venture away from home to take on Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
