Football Game Preview: St. Joseph Cadets vs. Ludlowe Falcons

The St. Joseph Cadets will take on the Ludlowe Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

St. Joseph is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Staples, who was ranked 12th at the time (St. Joseph was ranked eighth). The Cadets were the clear victors by a 27-6 margin over the Wreckers on Saturday.

Finn Kilmartin went supernova, rushing for 28 yards and four touchdowns. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. St. Joseph also got a significant boost from Manning Stanko, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

St. Joseph didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Staples to a completion percentage of just 44.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Jake Rios and Lameik Black Jr, who each logged one passes deflected. St. Joseph hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.24 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Ludlowe entered their game against Greenwich on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Falcons lost 41-17 to the Cardinals. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ludlowe, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-2.
