Recap: Avery County Vikings vs. Erwin Warriors
If the Avery County Vikings were feeling good off their 60-19 takedown of the Lincolnton Wolves on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Avery County took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Erwin. Avery County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Erwin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Tuesday.
Despite the defeat, Avery County saw an underclassman step up: Caroline Hollifield scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. Reagan Greer was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Erwin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avery County will take on McDowell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Erwin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against R-S Central at 6:00 p.m.
