Football Recap: Tj Brown Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Southside

It's playoff time, and Jonesboro had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Southside Mavericks by a score of 42-34 on Friday. This was payback for the Hurricane, who suffered a 53-27 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jonesboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tj Brown, who rushed for 211 yards and four touchdowns. Thanks to that big game, Brown is now up to 23 rushing touchdowns on the season. Kameron Davis did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 177 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jonesboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Jonesboro's defensive line and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Eric Blocker, Jaques Jordan, and Will Marlin, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Jonesboro now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-5.

Jonesboro has already played their next game, a 59-21 loss against Greenwood on the 21st. Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
