Baseball Game Preview: Livermore Cowboys vs. Dougherty Valley Wildcats

The Livermore Cowboys will square off against the Dougherty Valley Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Livermore has three straight wins, Dougherty Valley has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Livermore will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating San Ramon Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Livermore came out on top against San Ramon Valley by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Cowboys have beaten the Wolves on their field since March 29, 2019.

Ryan Kohn looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Livermore's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Demiris, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Jaden Vassallo was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Dougherty Valley's offense. They came up short against Foothill on Wednesday, falling 7-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dougherty Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Livermore, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
