Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact Rangeview proved on Friday. They managed a 60-56 victory over Denver South.
Rangeview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paige Boectther out in front who scored 21 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Boectther scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of D'ajha Horton, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Thursday. They really took it to Thomas Jefferson for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-32 victory at home. Vista PEAK Prep has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.
Vista PEAK Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eianna Jackson, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Knakai Starks, who scored six points along with nine blocks and seven rebounds.
Rangeview's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Rangeview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Vista PEAK Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
