Softball Game Preview: Kewanee Boilermakers vs. Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts

The Kewanee Boilermakers will take on the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kewanee came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-5 to Marquette. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Boilermakers have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Rylee Blades made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Remy Hicks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Illinois Valley Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with an 11-7 victory over Limestone on Tuesday.

Emersyn Fleming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Illinois Valley Central got a big performance out of Abby Bazyn, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Morgan Ellington was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
