Baseball Game Preview: Chequamegon Screaming Eagles vs. Washburn Castle Guards

Chequamegon has gone 7-2 against Washburn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Screaming Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Castle Guards at 4:45 p.m.

Chequamegon easily dispatched Drummond on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Screaming Eagles fell just short of Auburndale by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The Screaming Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Washburn was able to grind out a solid win over Mellen on Thursday, taking the game 7-4.

Chuck L was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. L was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Henry Means was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Wyatt Melek was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Washburn's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Chequamegon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Chequamegon skirted past Washburn 8-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Screaming Eagles repeat their success, or do the Castle Guards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
