Basketball Recap: Keegen Bryant's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gilmer over Lafayette

Gilmer fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against LaFayette on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the LaFayette Ramblers by a score of 59-56. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Ramblers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 70-59 loss two weeks ago.

Gilmer's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keegen Bryant, who went 7-for-16 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jd Taylor, who posted 16 points and five rebounds.

Gilmer now has a losing record of 12-13. As for LaFayette, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.

Coming up, Gilmer is taking a road trip to square off against Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on February 19th. Gilmer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Monroe likes a good challenge. As for LaFayette, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-27 defeat against Calhoun on the 14th.
