Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Thornton Trojans

The Mountain View Mountain Lions will face off against the Thornton Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View will be strutting in after a victory while Thornton will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Mountain View turned things around against Wellington on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 39-38 photo finish over the Eagles.

Among those leading the charge was Marlene Carrillo, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, Thornton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-25 heartbreaker at the hands of Adams City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since February 12, 2024.

Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Mountain View, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-7.
