Football Recap: Anselmo-Merna Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, Anselmo-Merna finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by the Central Valley Cougars and fell 62-8. The loss continues a trend for the Coyotes in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zevan Wolf, who picked up 66 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 66 receiving yards gave Wolf a new career-high. Landen Poss got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Anselmo-Merna fell to 3-1. As for Central Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Anselmo-Merna is set to square off against their familiar foe Chambers/Wheeler Central at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Central Valley will face off against rival Burwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
