Recap: Gonzales Spartans vs. Greenfield Bruins
The Gonzales Spartans fell victim to the Greenfield Bruins''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 38-0 defeat at the hands of the Bruins. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gonzales in their matchups with Greenfield: they've now lost three in a row.
Juan P. ayala threw for 122 yards on 12 of 22 attempts. Adrian Perez was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards.
Greenfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allen Rodriguez led the charge by rushing for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
Gonzales' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Greenfield, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Gonzales does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Greenfield is on the road again on Friday and play against Branham at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Branham is on a five-game streak of home wins, Greenfield a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
