Softball Recap: Nansemond River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lakeland on Thursday, Nansemond River came back down to earth. The Warriors fell 9-5 to the Isle of Wight Academy Chargers on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Bailey Hare was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Nansemond River's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Nansemond River will face off against Hickory at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Isle of Wight Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
