Basketball Recap: Community School of Davidson Falls Despite Big Games from Olivia Stewart and Regan Downey

Community School of Davidson and East Surry squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Community School of Davidson had to settle for second. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Surry Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 34th).

Regan Downey and Olivia Stewart certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Downey posted 17 points, while Stewart scored 13 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Community School of Davidson and nudges their season record down to 17-9. As for East Surry, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Community School of Davidson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Surry, they will square off against Forest Hills on Friday. Forest Hills will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something East Surry surely won't give up without a fight.
