Recap: St. Anne's-Belfield Saints vs. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints
After flying high against the Isle of Wight Academy Chargers last Friday, the St. Anne's-Belfield Saints came back down to earth. St. Anne's-Belfield fell 54-47 to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Anne's-Belfield in their matchups with Nansemond-Suffolk Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why St. Anne's-Belfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Peyton Booth. Despite the final result, he threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Chance Mallory also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Caden Bradford had an outrageously good game for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy as he rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Bradford was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Napoleon Ellison was another key contributor, throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt.
St. Anne's-Belfield's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
St. Anne's-Belfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will head out on the road to face off against North Cross at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
