Basketball Recap: Jackson Falls Despite Big Games from Caden Spitler and Jacen Hamm

Jackson lost against Jasper County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Red Devils took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hurricanes. The game marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Jackson had strong showings from Jacen Hamm, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Caden Spitler, who shot 70% from the field on his way to 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Spitler now owns an excellent 49.2% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Brevin Mayfield, who posted six points.

This is the second loss in a row for Jackson and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Jasper County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Jackson and Lamar County will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jasper County will take on Hancock Central in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 64.29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
