Southeast piles up the points against Lawrence Free State

Recap: Southeast Golden Buffalo vs. Lawrence Free State Firebirds

The Southeast Golden Buffalo's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lawrence Free State 56-23 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Southeast has posted since December 8, 2023.

Southeast was led to victory by Leela Jones and Alana Webb. Jones dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals, while Webb dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 steals. Jones is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Dean, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Southeast's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Lawrence Free State, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Southeast will take on West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Lawrence Free State, Lawrence Free State and Olathe Northwest will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Olathe Northwest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lawrence Free State in Kansas (Olathe Northwest is ranked 103rd, while Lawrence Free State is ranked 326th).
