Softball Game Preview: Bethel Bees vs. Milton-Union Bulldogs

Bethel hasn't had much luck against Milton-Union recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bees will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. Bethel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Bethel got the win against Lehman Catholic by a conclusive 13-3. The win continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won seven in a row.

Addie Etherington made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bethel got a massive performance out of Allie Sheen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs Sheen has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Fisher, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Bethel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Milton-Union fell victim to Miami East and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 16-0 to the Vikings. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Milton-Union's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Bethel, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
