Preview: Northwood Rangers vs. Maumee Valley Country Day Hawks
Northwood has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Maumee Valley Country Day Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Northwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 589th, while Maumee Valley Country Day is ranked 143rd).
Last Friday, Northwood came up short against Ottawa Hills and fell 59-49. Northwood has struggled against Ottawa Hills recently, as their matchup on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Maumee Valley Country Day stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat American International Academy 70-18 at home. The win was just what Maumee Valley Country Day needed coming off of a 62-40 loss in their prior matchup.
Maumee Valley Country Day relied on the efforts of Amani-Jordan Chandran-Dickerson, who scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals, and Christian Majors, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Majors hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Soriano, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
Northwood took a serious blow against Maumee Valley Country Day in their previous matchup back in January, falling 90-42. Can Northwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
