Baseball Game Preview: Maranatha Minutemen vs. Righetti Warriors

The Maranatha Minutemen will take on the Righetti Warriors in a tournament on Friday. Maranatha will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Maranatha saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over St. Francis.

Jacob Yun looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Barragan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Morales, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Maranatha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Righetti's offense. They lost 6-0 to La Quinta on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Noah Farris was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

Righetti's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Maranatha, their record now sits at 13-6-1.
