Preview: Omaha South Packers vs. Fremont Tigers
The Omaha South Packers will head out on the road to square off against the Fremont Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Omaha South is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Omaha South struggled with assists on Tuesday (Omaha North had 17 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Omaha South was dealt a 76-45 defeat at the hands of Omaha North. While losing is never fun, Omaha South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Omaha North is ranked 22nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lou Hodoly, who scored 15 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Trayton Marshall was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Omaha South struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Fremont came up short against Grand Island on Tuesday and fell 66-53. Fremont has not had much luck with Grand Island recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Omaha South has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Omaha South came up short against Fremont in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 72-59. Can Omaha South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
