Basketball Recap: Kohala Takes a Loss

Kohala and Hanalani squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Kohala had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Hanalani Royals 68-26. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading Hanalani to victory were Ellana Klemp and Piha Akiona. Klemp almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Akiona went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Klemp is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tamlyn Celestino, who posted five points and six steals.

Kohala's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Hanalani, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-4.

Kohala does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hanalani, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hawaii Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
