Softball Game Preview: Waterloo Vikings vs. Jackson-Milton Bluejays

The Waterloo Vikings will challenge the Jackson-Milton Bluejays at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Jackson-Milton will be up against a hot Waterloo squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Vikings put the hurt on Lowellville with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday.

Jolean Hampton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Hampton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kristlyn Kehrer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Bayley English, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton made easy work of Western Reserve on Wednesday and carried off an 18-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bluejays in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Jackson-Milton, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Waterloo came up short against Jackson-Milton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
