Basketball Recap: Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Comes Up Short

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley lost against Cross County back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Cross County Cougars an easy 51-26 win. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cross County had a senior duo take command as Thatcher Hanson posted 11 points and five steals and Wyatt Hengelfelt earned seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Hanson a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Anderson, who put up six points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Cross County, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will take on Fairbury in a tournament on December 28th. As for Cross County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-44 defeat against Central City on the 21st.
