Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mt. Pleasant lost against Prout back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mt. Pleasant Kilties took a 44-27 bruising from the Prout Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Kilties can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Crusaders are ranked tenth).

Mt. Pleasant has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Prout, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Mt. Pleasant will be playing at home against Lincoln School at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln School has five straight victories, Mt. Pleasant has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Prout, they will venture away from home to square off against North Providence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Prout's defense has only allowed 24.5 points per game this season, so North Providence's offense will have their work cut out for them.
