Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Wayne extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They fell 11-6 to the Fort Wayne North Side Legends. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Legends apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Faith Couture made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Fort Wayne North Side's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Fort Wayne North Side's side, Cadee Ross made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Ross was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Robinson and Ashlyn Maple did most of the damage at the plate: Robinson went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Maple went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Maple has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Courtney Jackson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Coincidentally, Fort Wayne Wayne and Fort Wayne North Side will both be playing Hamilton the next time they take the field. The Generals will head out to face the Marines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Legends will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
