The Cobden Appleknockers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Cobden fell victim to Anna-Jonesboro and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 14-0 to the Wildcats. The loss continues a trend for the Appleknockers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.
Cobden saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Howell, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Galatia/Thompsonville beat Cisne 7-3 on Tuesday.
AJ Downing was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win got Galatia/Thompsonville back to even at 1-1. As for Cobden, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
