Softball Recap: Lower Merion Aces vs. Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers
Lower Merion had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-15-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers, falling 10-0. The Aces were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fightin' Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Lower Merion saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Marple Newtown, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
On Marple Newtown's side, Ally Snyder tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Snyder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kaya Dezzi was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Allison Collins was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Lower Merion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marple Newtown, they will venture away from home to face off against Unionville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
