Rising senior guard Christian PoPoola Jr. of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) announced Wednesday via Twitter that he will play college basketball at BYU.

PoPoola, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard regarded as a Top 200 prospect by 247Sports, helped Gorman win a state title as a junior.

But his most noteworthy accomplishment in 2015-16 may have been winning the slam dunk contest at two of the nation's most competitive events – the MaxPreps Holiday Classic in Southern California and the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions in Missouri.

PoPoola Jr. began his career at Bishop Gorman but spent his sophomore year at Lone Peak (Highland, Utah).



According to 247, PoPoola also garnered offers from Memphis, New Mexico, Rutgers, San Diego State, UNLV and USC among others.
