Football Recap: Green Valley Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

While Green Valley put up some points on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Spring Valley. The Green Valley Gators put the hurt on the Spring Valley Grizzlies with a sharp 22-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gators as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aundrea Velez, who rushed for 96 yards on only ten carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. The dominant performance gave Velez a new career-high in rushing yards. Janae Peebles was another key signal caller, throwing for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Green Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Julie Lopez and Piper Carver-Coons, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Green Valley's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12. As for Spring Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Green Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 19-7 victory against Centennial on the 16th. As for Spring Valley, they will challenge Somerset Sky Pointe at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
