Baseball Recap: Ida Baker Has No Trouble Against Lely

Ida Baker was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lely on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Cole Lewis, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Ida Baker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Aiden Long was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Ida Baker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ida Baker is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lely, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-20.
