Softball Recap: Peniel Baptist Academy Takes Down Saint Francis Catholic in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Peniel Baptist Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves with a sharp 16-1 win on Monday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by six runs or more this season.

Alexis Peacock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Peniel Baptist Academy got a massive performance out of Shanley Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Jenkins has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Zurn, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Peniel Baptist Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are 14-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Peniel Baptist Academy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Saint Francis Catholic, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10-1.
