Football Game Preview: Carrollton Trojans vs. Westlake Lions + How To Watch

Carrollton has gone a perfect 4-0 against Westlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. Carrollton will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Carrollton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Parker, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Carrollton was ranked third). The Trojans took their game last Friday with ease, bagging a 43-7 win over the Thundering Herd. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Carrollton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Peyton Zachary, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two scores. Those 127 receiving yards gave Zachary a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Cameron Wood, who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Carrollton, adding 13 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Landon Vargas-Jasso: he added nine points with three field goals and another four kicking extra points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Westlake beat Hapeville Charter 13-7 last Friday. The 13-point effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

A big part of Westlake's victory came down to the chemistry between Cannon Robinson and his top target Elias Gandy. Robinson threw for 168 yards and a pair of TDs while Gandy picked up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown. Gandy has become a key player for Westlake: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Carrollton's record now sits at 6-0. As for Westlake, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Carrollton against Westlake in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-27 victory. In that game, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 42-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
