Basketball Recap: Greenville Comes Up Short

Greenville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 64-30 defeat at the hands of the Wapakoneta Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 772nd, while the Redskins are ranked 380th).

Greenville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Layne Hocker, who posted six points and three steals. Ethan Flatter also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Greenville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Wapakoneta, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9.

Greenville will head out on the road to challenge Piqua at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wapakoneta, they will host Elida at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
