The Jefferson Davis County Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Mize Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson Davis County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Jefferson Davis County made easy work of Forrest County Agricultural and carried off an 11-4 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

D'Zayvianna Peyton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, Kavionna Myers was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Morgan Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Jefferson Davis County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forrest County Agricultural only posted an OBP of .261.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Mize came up short against Enterprise, falling 7-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Mize hasn't been shut out since back in February.

Mize saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marissa Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Mize and nudges their season record down to 14-9. As for Jefferson Davis County, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Mize's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Jefferson Davis County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game.
